About
Digital UPLIFT Teachers is a free 7 week program created for primary school teachers who are interested in adding more digital and tech elements to their lessons. The course is created for teachers of all digital abilities, including those who have never taught ICT, Computing or Design Technology. The course will introduce key digital skills such as coding with micro:bits, gaming, cyber security, and even Minecraft for education. Each session is pre-recorded and is broken down into easy to follow video lessons. Teachers can watch on their own or as a school group. Each session will also provide ideas on how the new skill can be integrated into the Key Stage 2 curriculum, beyond the normal computing lessons. For example helping a classroom create and explore ancient civilizations in Minecraft. Teachers not working in KS2 are still welcome to join the course (including secondary school teachers). Please just note the examples provided will be based on KS2 curriculum and is based on working with kids in the KS2 age groups. All of our lessons are focused on helping teachers prepare their students for a future where digital tools will be used across all subject areas. We've worked hard to ensure the sessions are fun, engaging and supportive even for the most tech shy teachers. This course includes: - Getting Girls into T.E.C: Ways to prevent gender bias in tech and engineering education - Cracking the Code: An introduction to Cyber Security with links to spys and Bletchley Park - Coding with micro:bits: How to get started - Gaming and Games Design and how to use video games in literacy and art lessons - Intro to Minecraft Education: how to use Minecraft to engage students in new ways - Open Evening to learn more about how to run exciting projects in the class room and meet organisations and programs in Cornwall who can help teachers in ICT and DT topics.
